It’s open to everybody to attend and we hope to see a good turn out of the Nenagh (and surrounding) business community.

I hope to bring together a cross-section of the North Tipperary business community; entrepreneurs, technologists, professionals (accountants, solicitors etc, etc), innovators and people from the public sector support organisations.

The event will take place in the Abbey Court Hotel in Nenagh. Time will be from 11:30 am until 3 pm.

If you are interested in attending I would appreciate it if you could send me a quick email so that I have an idea of the number of people I can expect.

For those of you who are not familiar with the format here’s a short description of that the purpose of an Open Coffee Club is:

The OpenCoffee Club was started to encourage entrepreneurs, developers and investors to organise real-world informal meetups to chat, network and grow.

So if you run a business, are thinking about starting one, want to invest in one or have any sort of interest in business AND you are willing to meet like minded people in order to share your thoughts and experience in order to improve the business environment in your area then do attend!

NOTE: These events are free of charge! But there is one caveat; if you plan to do a hard sell or peddle your wares without any interest in sharing then these events are NOT for you.

All I need to do now is determine what day suits people best, so to help me do this please complete the below poll.

Just over 3,000 people were signing on the live register in Nenagh in June — a 200pc increase on unemployment figures in early 2008.

Nenagh has the biggest population and the biggest unemployed population in north Tipperary. The options, especially for young people, would seem stark: emigrate or join the dole queue.

Shocking facts and something that needs to be addressed ASAP. In my opinion the format of the Open Coffee Club is a good way for the entrepreneurial community in Nenagh and surrounding areas to share ideas, support each other and create new business and employment. If you are not familiar with the idea of an Open Coffee Club meeting please read our “about” page.

I suggest that the next Nenagh Open Coffee Club will take place on Thursday 5th of August. Venue is as usual: O’Briens on Kenyon Street in Nenagh. I will put more details on attendees etc on this page as it becomes available. However is this all stands or falls by the number of people attending I am setting the target off at least 10 people attending. For those not familiar with it: Open Coffee Club meetings are informal “gatherings” of entrepreneurs, start-ups, investors and anybody with an interest in business and technology to tell their story, discuss topics, exchange points of view and network with likeminded people. As a date I am suggesting November 11th in O’Briens Sandwich Bar in Nenagh from 11 am until 2 pm.  O’Briens have free wifi so you wil have full internet access.
